Credit System – Usage Guide

Last updated September 8, 2026

How Do Xelta Credits Work? This guide explains what Credits are, what uses them, how to check your balance, and what happens when you run low.

Prices reflect the live Xelta pricing page as of 8 September 2026. The 60% discount referenced throughout is a standing, permanent discount — not a limited-time offer.

1. What Is a Xelta Credit?

Xelta runs on a single, simple currency: Credits. Every image, video, voiceover, edit, avatar, ad, or workflow generated on Xelta draws from one Credit balance, rather than being billed separately per model or feature. The heavier the job — longer video, higher resolution, more advanced model — the more Credits it costs.

Each user has one running Credit balance. Credits from a subscription plan, a Pay-As-You-Go top-up, and free bonus credits all sit in the same pot — there is no separate wallet for each type, and free credits can be spent alongside paid credits in the same generation.

Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value outside the platform.

2. How Credits Are Received

Xelta's core commercial model is subscription-based, with a Flexible Pay-As-You-Go option for users who don't want a recurring plan. Bonus credits are also granted automatically in specific cases. The table below consolidates every way a user can receive credits.

  • Subscription Credits — How It's Received: Allocated automatically each billing period on a paid plan (Social Media Starter, Premium, Creator Pro). Renewal / Term: Renews each billing cycle. Notes: Xelta's primary, default way of accessing credits.
  • Pay-As-You-Go Packs — How It's Received: Purchased directly in fixed packs (₹249 → 2,400 / ₹599 → 6,000 / ₹1,199 → 12,000 credits). Renewal / Term: One-time purchase. Notes: Usable across all creative flows, incl. Microdrama, Promo-Teaser & Comic generation.
  • Signup Bonus — How It's Received: Granted automatically once, when the account is created. Renewal / Term: One-time grant. Notes: 300 credits; usable alongside any other credits.
  • Community Bonus — How It's Received: Granted once for joining the Xelta community. Renewal / Term: One-time grant. Notes: 1,000 credits.
  • Promotional Credits — How It's Received: Occasionally granted at Xelta's discretion (offers, campaigns, loyalty rewards). Renewal / Term: Set individually per offer. Notes: Terms disclosed at the time each promotion is issued.
  • Refund Credits — How It's Received: Returned if a paid generation technically fails, or a payment is reversed. Renewal / Term: Case-by-case. Notes: See Section 8 — Failed Generations & Refunds.

3. Plans & Pricing (live on 8 September 2026)

3.1 Monthly Subscription Plans

There is no yearly plan — all subscriptions are billed monthly. Every plan carries a standing 60% discount in both currencies. The struck-through 'list price' is shown on the site, but the discounted price is what users actually pay, and that discount is permanent.

  • Social Media Starter — List Price (struck through): ₹2,499 / $24.99. Price Users Pay: ₹1,000 / $10.00. Credits / Month: 9,990. Roughly Per Month: ~100 images or ~20 videos.
  • Premium (Most Popular) — List Price (struck through): ₹8,750 / $87.99. Price Users Pay: ₹3,500 / $35.20. Credits / Month: 34,990. Roughly Per Month: ~363 images or ~60 videos.
  • Creator Pro — List Price (struck through): ₹19,750 / $198.99. Price Users Pay: ₹7,900 / $79.60. Credits / Month: 79,990. Roughly Per Month: ~1,000 images or ~163 videos.

Higher plans also unlock benefits beyond raw credits: private image setting, access to premium and higher-resolution models, priority support, and — on Creator Pro — unlimited real-time generations and personalization.

3.2 Pay-As-You-Go Top-Up Packs

A top-up is a single purchase, added to the balance immediately, with no monthly commitment. Top-ups include access to all creative flows, Microdrama / Promo-Teaser / Comic generation, and 480p / 720p / 1080p outputs.

  • Small — Price (India): ₹249. Price (USD): $2. Credits: 2,400.
  • Medium — Price (India): ₹599. Price (USD): $6. Credits: 6,000.
  • Large — Price (India): ₹1,199. Price (USD): $12. Credits: 12,000.

3.3 Free Bonus Credits

  • Signup bonus — Credits: 300. When: Once, when the account is created.
  • Community bonus — Credits: 1,000. When: Once, for joining the community.

4. What a Credit Is Worth

4.1 The Currency Rate

Xelta prices India and USD on a simple internal rate of roughly ₹1000 = $1 — visible directly in the plan prices (e.g. ₹2,499 lines up with $24.99).

4.2 How Many Credits Your Money Buys

  • Subscription plan (price users pay) — ₹1 gives you about 10 credits. $1 gives you about 1,000 credits.
  • Pay-As-You-Go top-up — ₹1 gives you about 10 credits. $1 gives you about 1,000 credits.

Because the 60% discount is permanent, subscriptions and top-ups work out to the same value across the board: about ₹1 = 10 credits, $1 = 1,000 credits. (The struck-through list price would work out to roughly 4 credits per rupee, but no one pays that price.)

4.3 The Headline Number for a Public Credits Page

Use $1 = 1,000 credits (₹1 = 10 credits). It matches every current purchase path — top-ups and all three subscription plans at the price actually paid — so it is safe to publish. A round figure like '$1 = 100 credits' does not match any current Xelta price and should not be used.

Rule of thumb: one AI image costs roughly 80–150 credits. A Starter month (9,990 credits) is about 100 images or ~20 videos; Premium is about 363 images or 60 videos; Creator Pro about 1,000 images or 163 videos.

5. What Uses Xelta Credits?

Any action that asks Xelta's AI models to generate or process output consumes credits. Credit cost is set independently per model — the same type of generation (e.g. an image) can cost a different number of credits depending on which model is selected.

  • AI image generation (text-to-image, editing) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Model chosen; output settings (reference images, upscaling).
  • AI video generation (text-to-video, image-to-video) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Model, duration, resolution, and reference inputs.
  • AI audio & voice generation — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Model and length/complexity of the audio.
  • Voice Dub / Lip Sync — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Length of the source video and the model used.
  • AI Avatars (Gen Avatar) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Avatar model and output settings.
  • AI Ads (Instant Ad, Ad Maker, Prime Ad, Street Ad, UGC Ads, Giant Ads, URL to Ads) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Ad format, length, and underlying generation model(s).
  • Editing tools (Magic Cut, Video Stitching, Background Remover, VFX, Motion Control) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Complexity of the edit and processing model used.
  • Workflow-based flows (Microdrama, Comic Flow, Movie Trailer, Microcourse, Cinematic Studio) — Uses Credits: Yes. What Determines Cost: Reflects the underlying models/outputs used within the workflow.
  • Reference video/audio inputs during a generation — Uses Credits: Yes — at a separate rate. What Determines Cost: Billed at the video-input rate, in addition to base generation cost (confirmed on Seedance 2.5).
  • Output format or bitrate choice (e.g. MP4 vs MOV, Standard vs High bitrate) — Uses Credits: No, in at least one confirmed case. What Determines Cost: Seedance 2.5 states Bitrate Mode 'does not affect price'.

The safest general rule: if a button says 'Generate,' it will show an estimated credit cost before you click it.

5.1 How the Cost Is Calculated

  • Model selection — every AI model has its own credit cost, based on computational complexity.
  • Video duration — cost scales with the length of the clip requested.
  • Resolution — higher output resolution costs more credits.
  • Reference inputs — additional reference videos are billed at their own video-input rate, on top of the base generation cost.
  • Generation type — image, video, and audio generation are priced independently of one another.

5.2 Cost Transparency Before Generating

  • Before a user clicks generate, Xelta works out the exact credit cost for that job and shows it — e.g. 'Generate ~75' for an image, or 'Generate ~1800' for a video — updating live as settings change.
  • When the user confirms, that many credits are taken from their balance and the new balance updates on-screen immediately.
  • A user can never go below zero — if the balance is insufficient, the job is refused and nothing is taken.
  • Two simultaneous jobs cannot overspend — the balance is updated one change at a time.
  • Every credit change is recorded in a history the user can view.

The 'credits used' figure shown to a user is their all-time total, not a monthly or 30-day figure.

6. Expiry & Roll-Over

Both source documents agree that credits do not have a hard expiry date. However, they describe monthly roll-over behavior differently, and this should be resolved before publishing a public-facing page:

⚠ Unresolved conflict between source documents — resolve before publishing

  • Plain Guide (internal): unused subscription credits DO carry over — when a plan renews, new credits are added on top of whatever is left; nothing is wiped.

  • Credit Usage Page draft (public-facing): states subscription credits do NOT roll over — each new cycle starts with a fresh allocation, not a running total.

  • Both sources agree that Pay-As-You-Go and bonus/free credits never expire and simply remain until spent.

  • Recommendation: confirm actual system behavior with engineering/payments before this page goes live, since this materially affects what users are promised.

  • Do unused subscription credits carry to next month? — Plain Guide (internal): Yes — added on top of what's left. Usage Page Draft (public): No — fresh allocation each cycle.

  • Do top-up credits expire? — Plain Guide (internal): No — stay until used. Usage Page Draft (public): No — remain in balance until spent.

  • Do bonus/free credits expire? — Plain Guide (internal): No. Usage Page Draft (public): No — usable alongside other credits.

  • Do credits disappear on cancellation? — Plain Guide (internal): Not today — they stay in the balance. Usage Page Draft (public): Not directly addressed.

In either version, Xelta's roll-over policy is more generous on the 'credits never expire' point than some competitors (e.g. Higgsfield wipes unused plan credits every month). This was never a formal, documented decision on the internal side, and it is not stated to users anywhere outside these drafts — worth confirming before publication.

7. Renewals

  • Card / online subscriptions: each renewal grants the current published credit amount for that plan. If the credit amount for a plan changes, online renewals pick up the new number automatically.
  • Apple and Google (in-app) subscriptions: each renewal grants the credit amount that was set when the user first subscribed. If the plan's credits change, these users keep the old amount until their subscription is updated.

8. Failed Generations & Refunds

If a generation fails because of a technical fault on Xelta's side — a server error, a timeout with no output, a crashed job, or a platform outage — the credits deducted for that failed generation are restored to the balance. This applies whether Xelta's own monitoring detects the failure automatically or the user reports it.

Credits are not restored for a generation that completes and returns output, even if the user is unhappy with the result or simply changes their mind. A generation correctly blocked by content-moderation checks before it starts doesn't deduct credits in the first place, so there's nothing to restore.

Refund automation gap (internal): this is not yet an automatic, guaranteed 'within minutes' process — it currently depends on the failure being reported back. If a payment is reversed or a subscription is cancelled/refunded, the credit side is handled through subscription records. Credits have no cash value and are not converted back into money.

If a user believes a failed generation didn't refund credits automatically, they can contact Xelta support with their account email, the generation ID or timestamp, and a short description of what happened.

9. Checking Balance & Usage History

9.1 Credit Balance

A user's current balance is shown as Credits Balance on the Billing page inside the Xelta account console.

9.2 Usage History

The account console includes a full generation history, showing each past generation along with the prompt used and the output produced — not just a success/failure status — making it easy to review past outputs and track how credits were spent over time.

10. Running Out of Credits & Getting More

At a zero credit balance, a user cannot start new generations — the platform dynamically blocks generation requests once the balance is insufficient to cover the estimated cost. To continue creating, a user can:

  • Purchase a Pay-As-You-Go credit pack, or
  • Upgrade their subscription plan — additional credits and features start instantly upon upgrading, rather than waiting for the next billing cycle, or
  • Wait for the next subscription billing cycle to allocate fresh credits

Enterprise arrangements: organizations with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or order form with Xelta are provisioned credits and usage terms according to that agreement, rather than the standard consumer options above.

12. Summary

  • One balance per user; all credit types share it.
  • Three monthly plans (Starter, Premium, Creator Pro), three top-up packs, and two one-time bonuses. No yearly plan.
  • A permanent 60% discount applies to all plans, in both India and USD pricing — the discounted price is the real price.
  • A subscription and a top-up are the same value: $1 = 1,000 credits / ₹1 = 10 credits — the number to use on a public credits page.
  • Roll-over behavior needs confirmation (see Section 6) before this becomes a public page.

Frequently
asked questions

See the Section 6 conflict box above — internal and public-facing drafts currently disagree on this point and it should be confirmed before publishing.
If it fails due to a technical issue on Xelta's side, the credits deducted are restored to the balance.
Unused credits from a direct purchase may be eligible for a refund request, subject to Xelta's Refund Policy and purchase-window terms.
It depends on the model, generation type, resolution, and (for video) duration. Xelta shows an estimated credit cost on the 'Generate' button before a generation runs.
No — every model has its own independently set credit cost. A quick image generation typically costs far fewer credits than a longer, higher-resolution video generation.
Balance: Billing page in the account console ('Credits Balance'). History: the console's generation history, including the prompt and output for each past generation.
Yes — new accounts receive a free credit grant (signup bonus) to try the platform, usable alongside subscription or purchased credits.
Yes — the Flexible Pay-As-You-Go option offers one-time credit packs with no subscription required.
Yes — upgrading takes effect instantly, so the additional credits and features are available immediately rather than at the next billing cycle.
No. Refunds and credit restoration only apply to generations that technically failed on Xelta's side — not to successful generations a user is simply unhappy with.
